Volunteers
Glenwood’s dedicated volunteers are valued members of the community, coming from a
wide range of backgrounds. Each volunteer brings their own unique experiences and
skills to the organization. They generously assist with open houses, tours, and special
events, ensuring that every visitor has a memorable experience. In addition to their
public-facing roles, some volunteers contribute their talents behind the scenes, helping
Glenwood thrive in many ways.

Mike & Dot Gioulis
Mike Gioulis, when not volunteering, enjoys traveling for both work and leisure, often
taking trips on his motorcycle. He also finds joy in caring for his garden. Glenwood
benefits from Mike's professional expertise as a Historic Preservation Consultant.
Dot Gioulis shares Mike's passion for gardening, with a special interest in cultivating
orchids. She also delights in baking cakes and cookies.

Cookie Glasser
Cookie Glasser is a member of the Lucy Quarrier Weavers, sharing her enthusiasm for
weaving with Glenwood's visitors. She also serves on the Glenwood Board of Directors
& provides invaluable guidance in interpreting Glenwood’s mission.

James Griffith
James Griffith, a busy psychiatrist, volunteers his time at Glenwood by assisting during
open houses, tours and special events. "Griff" enjoys basketball, following Mountaineer
sports, and working out at the gym.

Mary Halen
Mary Halen is a recent retiree from the field of Human Resources. She enjoys spending
time with her adult daughters and volunteers at her church. Mary has a love for music,
especially live performances. She became a first-time volunteer at the Holiday Open
House in 2025, and Glenwood hopes to see her return for many years to come.

​Brian Marrs
Brian Marrs is a multi-talented volunteer who assists with tours and open house events
and is also an accomplished photographer, having photographed nearly seventy shows
for the Light Opera Guild. Brian is a senior account manager at the Red Cross, and he
and his wife Jennifer will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in April 2026.

Ben Randolph
As a member of the Lucy Quarrier Weavers, Ben Randolph shares his expertise at the
loom and spinning wheel with Glenwood's visitors. His behind-the-scenes efforts are
also significant, as he leads the organization of repairs and maintenance of Glenwood’s
looms and spinning wheels. Ben has also volunteered to assist with private tours of
Glenwood, providing even more support in efforts to share the property with community
members.

Carter Sharp
Carter Sharp is a kind and generous seventh grader at John Adams Middle School. He is a talented runner and baseball player who makes time to volunteer at Glenwood in the midst of a busy schedule.

Megan Sharp
Megan Sharp is a middle school science teacher and a devoted mother to two children, as well as several well-cared-for pets. She is an avid reader and has a particular fondness for young Heber Summers, whose portrait hangs in Glenwood’s parlor.

Carol Susman
Carol Susman, a retired French teacher, currently substitutes in Kanawha County Schools. She volunteers at her church and is a regular at the animal shelter. Each time Carol volunteers at Glenwood, she learns more about this special place and its former residents.

Larry Tucker
Larry Tucker is a well-known Charleston designer who has contributed years of design excellence and expertise to Glenwood, in addition to volunteering at events. His special touches ensure that every visit to Glenwood is memorable.

Ian Woods
Ian Woods recently completed his AmeriCorps term at the WV State Farm Museum. He now volunteers at various historic sites and creates miniature models while planning his next steps.
